Meet Izzy
My journey started in 2004. As a rising entrepreneur, I began freelancing cleaning homes throughout NYC. During this time I made a new friend who introduced me to the artful skill of tantra bodywork. The universe had introduced the master to the student.
I had my reservations but my curiosity got the better of me. “What is this about?” I had never heard this term before. He told me that it was energy work weaved with bodywork combined with the chakras, breath work and - surprisingly - nudity. I remember blushing when I heard the word nude. Being born and raised Catholic, I had been programmed to perceive nudity as a negative. He asked me if I wanted to learn more and something took over me, and I said yes. Once I agreed, he then goes, “Actually, a guy I am dating also wants to learn, so the three of us will get together and practice with each other”. I thought I agreed to a threesome and I was nervous and excited, but that was not the case.
It truly was training and it went very smoothly. Since day one he said “you are a natural and will do very well as a healer”. As easy as the training went, I couldn’t help being uncomfortable naked in front of them. It was the first time exploring the somatic experience of being in my own skin, feeling the discomfort of feeling exposed and not knowing what to do, feeling vulnerable more than anything. The lesson here was about diving into the relationship with my body which before then was non-existent.
After training, I kept my freelancing gig and would offer my new skill in my spare time. The process was very bumpy, trying to figure out what it was I was actually doing wasn't easy, especially trying to make sense of it, but I got better over time.
It’s been twenty years of experience in the field and I haven’t looked back. I also took training with the Body Electric and Jason Tantra from the UK. Their approach has added to my arsenal as well as aiding in developing my own technique. Tantra has become a lifestyle when it comes to my private life. In my case, I have gained the ability to be more aware of my surroundings, to be within my body, to choose what works for me instead of pleasing others, more than anything to raise my frequency.
The tantric process will allow yourself to pull away from the black and white lens, to move onto a beautiful array of colors that live between black and white, where the individual realizes there are more than two choices to choose from. Choices that benefit the individual, enhance their lives and point the way to enlightenment.
